关于高尔夫
I'm Golf -- a product person, home cook, and lifelong teacher based somewhere between code and the kitchen. By day I build apps with a small team. By night I experiment with Sichuan peppercorns and prove that vegetarian Chinese food can be just as 麻辣 (numbing-spicy) as the original.
I'm a strict vegetarian and passionate about traditional Chinese cuisine -- minus the meat. All my recipes are plant-based, and I love teaching anyone willing to learn a few Chinese words along the way.
I started this blog as a place to collect the things I care about: recipes I've perfected (or at least survived), Chinese proverbs that reframe how I think, and updates from the most opinionated Shih Tzu you'll ever meet.
"master" or "teacher"
Shifu came into my life when I needed a reason to slow down. He's a Shih Tzu with strong opinions about walk routes, dinner timing, and whether I've been staring at my screen too long. He earned his name because every day he teaches me something -- usually patience, sometimes humility, always unconditional love.
He rates my cooking on a five-paw scale. He is not generous.
知之为知之,不知为不知,是知也

Yes, my name is really Golf. 高尔夫 (Gāo'ěrfū) in Chinese -- which is just the phonetic translation of the sport. My parents had... unique taste. I've never actually played golf in my life. 😄
It's like being named "Basketball Johnson" in English. Unusual, but memorable!
I work in product management, building tools that (I hope) make people's lives a little easier. I care about craft, simplicity, and shipping things that actually work.
I also run a weekly Chinese vocabulary challenge for my team. Current prize: I cook 麻婆豆腐 for the winner. Competition is fierce.
